Just doing my morning perusal of the internet I came across a fantastic piece from the Vancouver Province's Jason Botchford titled "Luongo was brilliant beyond superlatives". In case anyone is unfamiliar with the term, and to foster my usual style of one sided screechy "debate":
Simply put; the word 'superlative' is defined as:
(a noun) an exaggerated mode of expression (usually of praise): "the critics lavished superlatives on it"; (an adjective) the greatest: the highest in quality; - Wikipedia
A selection of their superlative free article contains the following:
In Wednesday's game, he made two breathtaking saves.
it was one of those nights where he made the spectacular happen.
N.B. I was informed the first superlative quoted was actually true: when Luongo made each of the saves in question everyone's breath was literally stolen. We apologize for the inconvenience and suggest donating to the British Columbia Emphysema Foundation.
It was one of those nights where Luongo was mostly in perfect position, and he'll tell you Chicago hitting four posts is indicative of just that. The old "I meant to do that" claim. One time I was deep frying pierogi while watching football (seriously, this isn't some sort of bizarre allegory) and for no reason all of the oil in the pot decided "well, fuck this" and shot straight up in the air. Without dropping my beer I jumped a foot to the right and completely dodged my slippery demise BUT DINNER WAS RUINED.
Sometimes you dodge a bullet. Sometimes you're Roberto Luongo and the Blackhawks play three bar behind you to remind you that you won the last two game 1s as well. Game two tonight, let's get it.
In all seriousness now: "Sometimes you're Roberto Luongo and the Blackhawks play three bar behind you to remind you that you won the last two game 1s as well." Exactly. Game 1 didn't spell any type of disaster/meltdown. We held our own. This'll be a series.
@Chemmy Couldn't care less about baseball, but if I did, I'd probably go with the White Sox.
I stopped following professional wrestling in the 90s. Oops.
@Chemmy I'm a Red Sox fan and I don't really hate either Chicago team. Wrestling I'd have to go back to the good ole' days of Stone Cold's heyday.
@Chemmy White Sox >>>> Cubs and Randy Savage & Hacksaw Jim Duggan >>> ALL.
@Chemmy hey, sign out of the backend, I'll fix the images...
@Chemmy I do the images at 625 wide. That seems to do the trick.
@AndrewBHDL RED SOX
@KellyPuckDrunk *takes notes* What about Rowdy Roddy Piper?
@KellyPuckDrunk are you hitting on me?
@JustinDOY Well I went with 500 smart guy.
@CorneliusH are there any sites you don't post on?
@Chemmy I was raised a Cubs fan. When I was 8 I went "fuck this team, I'm out." Then I picked the team with Mo Vaughn on my video game.
@Chemmy Also good. If you could work in a reference to the Rockers feud/breakup, that'd be great too. <3
@Chemmy jokes on him - I DUCT TAPED MY TANK SHUT
@KellyPuckDrunk he's probably replacing the top cover of your toilet RIGHT NOW.
@Chemmy don't worry, you can get back in the backend momentarily
@AndrewBHDL YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO ANYMORE MOM. I'M A MAN.
@CorneliusH "Jerk chicken, jerk beef, jerk pork, is there any meat this man can't jerk?"
@Chemmy not if you're writing on them <3
