Quite fitting that on Halloween the Hawks will play against a team that makes people turn into mindless zombies (or people who changed the channel).
Last time I went into a preview saying the Hawks should win a game, it didn't go so well. I'll refrain from that today. Everybody knows how pesky the Preds can be. The Blackhawks got a good glimpse at that in the 2010 playoffs. The whole magical playoff run that led to winning the Cup came close to being a first round loss thanks to the Predator's system.
Nashville's game is that trap that kills all fun and hope and life that the opposing hockey team has. They'll have five guys in the neutral zone and kill whatever speed you try to build up. The Hawks are going to have to get a little chippy on dump ins. A guy like Jamal Mayers will definitely come in handy.
Pekka Rinne is coming into tonight on the back of his 100th win. Rinne blanked the Ducks over the weekend to pick up his 22nd shutout, a franchise record. He'll face off (Note: Ever notice how stupid that phrase is? When was the last time two goalies had any kind of interaction?) against CrawDaddy. Craw didn't have a great game against the Canes on Friday, but overall he's had a good season. The Hawks should limit the Preds scoring chances, especially if Mike Underwood-Fisher misses the game due to an upper-body injury.
If you're heading to the game, be sure to pick up a copy of the Committed Indian on your way in. Kelly's Bolland Halloween Mask is being featured inside. Don't miss you chance at having your own creepy death glare!
